THE NELSON GEORGE MIXTAPE VOLUME 2
For 50 years of hip hop this 8X11 Zine contains articles from 1978 to the 21st century
Finally have hard copies of The Nelson George Mixtape Volume 2 that collects articles, interviews and reviews from 1978, with DJ Kool Herc in the Bronx, to the 2005 with Andre 3000. I’ve partnered again with Brooklyn based www.pacificpacific.pub, who published the first Mixtape in 2018. This edition to the series is an 18 page zine, that’s oversized and graphically fun. Designed to celebrate #hiphop50, it collects a few classic pieces from the Village Voice, plus early work in the NY Amsterdam News and promotional cards and posters from my career in and around rap music. I’ll be doing an event at the Grammy Museum in support of the book some time in the fall and some other press as well. Folks who order volume 2 will get an automatic discount if they want to buy volume 1 too. If this does well, I’ll likely do a volume 3, which would focus primarily on film.
I have a few more announcements re the Nelson George Mixtape brand in the fall.
Thanks for supporting this Substack and the associated projects.

Thank you. Great job on the posts. Loving the long and short reads.
I ordered the zine copy last month and still waiting for it to arrive. I wish the hardcover was available back then. Looking forward to reading regardless.
