IMAGES FROM A BUSY WEEKEND IN LOS ANGELES
Honored by the Living Legends Foundation and Spoke at the Grammy Museum
Friday night in Hollywood myself, along with eight other music business veterans, were honored by the Living Legends Foundation, an origanization that celebreates the past by helping those without pensions or insurance and giving scholarships to young people on their way up. I received the media award. With my time at the podium I shouted out mentors - Robert ‘Rocky’ Ford, Dave Clark and Joe Medlin - and dedicated by award to hip hop executive Andre Harrell.
On Saturday after noon I was interviewed by the Grammy Museum by Schyler O’Neal about my career, my coverage and involvement with hip hop and my books THE NELSON GEORGE MIXTAPE Volume 1 and 2, as well as my 1998 book, Hip Hop America, the title of which inspired the hip hop 50 exhibition that just opened and will be running at the museum through September 2024. I did a signing after the talk and walked through the exhbits, which I urge everyone in the LA area to check out. Copies of my books will be available at the museum gift shop. You can order copies of the Mixtape books at www.pacificpacific.pub.
Here are some images and two video clips from my busy weekend.
